Rev. Mickey T. McCandless is a native Texan having been born in Wichita Falls. Mickey traveled the world with his mother and father as they followed the assignments of the Air Force. He graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio in 1969, has a BBA in General Business from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Austin, Texas. Prior to entering ordained ministry at the age of 36, Mickey worked in inside and outside sales and financial management. Since his ordination in 1987, Mickey has served 5 churches in the Southwest Texas Annual Conference. He was associate pastor at Covenant UMC in Austin, senior pastor at Banquete UMC, Banquete, Texas, South Bluff UMC, Corpus Christi, and Lakehills UMC on Medina Lake prior to coming to Bracken UMC in 2000. 

Mickey has been married to Terry since 1971. They have 4 children, Tammy, Micah, Madison, and Mitchell.  Terry is the part-time program director for the San Antonio District of the United Methodist Church.

Mickey enjoys reading and playing sports, particularly softball. He has a passionate interest in futuring and preparing people to meet the transformed future through Jesus Christ.
